Abstract:
Chinese sources are rarely considered when studying early Islamic Central Asia. In this talk, Dilnoza Duturaeva presents a selection of Chinese diplomatic and administrative documents (letters, edicts, reports, etc.) related to Qarakhanid activities in China. These materials reveal how the Qarakhanids organised and managed long-distance trade and invite us to reconsider the history of the Qarakhanids and the wider world of early Islamic Central Asia.
