Mehdi Mousavi holds a PhD in History from the University of Delaware, USA, conferred in 2024. He is currently a research affiliate with the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Institute of Iranian Studies, where he is engaged in translation and general copyediting tasks. In addition to his doctoral degree, he holds degrees in Spanish and French, as well as a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Strasbourg, France. His research interests focus on the relationship between France and Iran during the Early modern and Modern periods. His doctoral dissertation “French Diplomatic Odyssey,” examines French policies towards Iran from the Safavid to the Qajar period (17th to 19th centuries). Additionally, he edited, introduced, and annotated Mirza Mohammad-Ali Shirazi’s travel account in France, written in 1847, which was published in Tehran in 2020. He has also contributed to major reference works, including Encyclopaedia Iranica, Encyclopaedia of Islam, and Christian-Muslim Relations: A Bibliographical History (Volume 20). His publications appeared in academic journals such as Iranian Studies (2021) and Iran: Journal of the British Institute of Persian Studies (2024). He has also translated a book and several articles in history and literature into Persian, published in Iran.
