Iranian Women Write Their Lives: The First Generation

The readings for this course are the memoirs of Iranian women that tell us about their lives, and their path to finding a comfortable place in situations different from their parents who were born in Iran. Eight Iranian women, born in the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s tell us about their lives, about how they deal with issues such as the effect of a walled society on themselves and other women, why and how they crossed over the wall, their steps towards finding a comfortable place for themselves, and their views on Iranian culture and society, especially in regard to women.
