Prof. Neda Maghbouleh is the Canada Research Chair in Migration, Race, and Identity and Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus. She is also appointed to the Sociology graduate faculty at the St. George campus and holds a non-budgetary cross appointment to the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. Her research focuses on the racialization of migrants from the MENA region and her academic publications include The Limits of Whiteness: Iranian Americans and the Everyday Politics of Race (Stanford University Press, 2017) and peer-reviewed articles in journals such as PNAS (2022), the American Journal of Sociology (2021), Ethnic & Racial Studies (2020), and Meridians: Feminism, Race, Transnationalism (2020). She is the recipient of a 2018-2023 Ontario Early Researcher Award and is the Principal Investigator on a major SSHRC Insight grant. In 2021-2022, she was in residence as a Wall Scholar at the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Study at the University of British Columbia.
