Roxanne D. Marcotte (MA, PhD, Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University) is Full Professor (titulaire) of contemporary Islam in the Department of Religious Studies, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Previously, she was Associate Professor of Islamic Studies and Arabic language at the University of Queensland (Australia). Areas of research include Arabic and Persian (1) Medieval intellectual traditions—Anushirvan and Buzurgmihr, the Javîdân Khirad, Ibn Miskawayh, Abû al-Barakât al-Baghdâdî, Abû al-‘Abbâs al-Lawkarî, Shihâb al-Dîn al-Suhrawardî (Tehran, 2016), Shams al-Dîn al-Shahrazûrî, Muhammad Ibn Rîzî; Ibn Taymiyya, Sadr al-Dîn al-Shîrâzî (Mullâ Sadrâ)—and (2) contemporary Muslim intellectuals (Un islam, des islams [Paris: 2010]).
