“I have been a work-study student at the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Institute of Iranian Studies since summer 2023. In this role, I have been a team member of the Cinema Iranica, Women Poet, and Iranian Studies Website. In this role, I have kept all three websites up to date by uploading new articles, movies, interviews, members’ info, etc. Also, I have taken part in gathering information, editing and compiling the Cinema Iranica Encyclopedia Compendium. Moreover, I have spent some time in the archive to find information about Cinema Iranica inside old Iranian magazines.
It has been an exciting experience to work as part of a team at the Institute. Notably, I am most proud of the materials I provided, edited and uploaded on the Cinema Iranica Website to help promoting Iran’s rich culture appearing in old Iranian movies.
Further, I have personally benefited from my time with the Institute in several ways. I have developed and refined many important skills, including cinema-related research skills, teamwork, organizational, publishing, web-design, etc. Combined with my other experiences, my time working at the Institute has enabled me to meaningfully develop my expertise in the field of Iranian cinema and film preservation.
Overall, the Institute stands as an essential place of learning and community which fosters cultural understanding and appreciation for Iranian art and history.”
